The Best of All Worlds

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO has partnered with At One Press to publish a multilingual children’s book.

2015 marked fifteen years since UNESCO established the International Mother Language Day celebrated around the world “to promote unity in diversity and international understanding, through multilingualism and multiculturalism.” We  at At One Press think there is no better way to celebrate this milestone in Canada than to publish a book honouring children’s mother languages and cultures.  The Best of All Worlds is a collection of 7 of the best stories that were submitted over the years for the Rainbow Caterpillar Multilingual Kid Lit Award.

The stories found in The Best of All Worlds were originally written in Arabic, Farsi, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Each of the stories are translated into English and French, and have illustrations. In this way the book will not only showcase the mother languages of the writers and create pride among the children speaking that language, but will also promote “diversity and international understanding through multilingualism and multiculturalism” among young readers.

At One Press' scope is all about diversity. The founder,  Gina Valle, PhD has always searched for ways to make diversity meaningful for Canadians. A book written by Canadians for Canadians in a multitude of languages and cultures is a good start.

THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS
